Household Socioeconomic Survey Analysis

Portfolio sample

About this project

End-to-end analysis of an illustrative household survey of 9,420 households in 12 counties (January 2022 to December 2025), from questionnaire design in KoboToolbox to data cleaning and analysis in PostgreSQL, and an interactive Power BI dashboard built with SQL views and DAX.

The survey covers six areas: demographics, socioeconomic status, health, WASH, food security and financial inclusion. It uses a Multidimensional Vulnerability Index and a Financial Exclusion Indicator to identify households facing multiple deprivations.

The work is documented in a data quality assessment, an analysis plan, a data cleaning log and a findings report with recommendations.

Key takeaways

20.9% of households were food insecure, 43.1% had no active health insurance and 40.2% relied on unimproved water sources. Mobile money reached 82.5% of households, yet 1.08% were financially excluded: in the lowest income quintile, with no mobile money and no health insurance. The average Multidimensional Vulnerability Index score was 1.4 out of 5, meaning the typical household faced between one and two deprivations at once.
